New York Fashion Week Spring 2010 - Part Two

On another note, I have clearly been reminiscing way too much on how cool the girls from the Babysitters Club were (read: reading the What Claudia Wore blog way way way too much!) as this morning I went on a whim and got the second hole repierced into my ears. All I can think about is how much I want to wear two feather earrings in the one ear all summer long! Yes yes yes to the double-feather-one-ear earring combo! I'm sure by the end of summer I will be done with the second hole, which could prove problematic if I ever want to do them AGAIN as I now have two open holes AND two closed holes in each ear. I am running out of space, it won't be long before my entire earlobe is just crunchy scar tissue! Yummy.

I'm Free!
Oh bliss! Oh sweet merriment! It's been warm in Melbourne for like, 5 days and already I've spent 2 nights on the rooftop at Madame Brussels drinking cocktails, one night in the Recorded Music Salon drinking cocktails (ok, so it's not exactly Summery but my lord they make a mean martini), dropped by the hustle and bustle of the Shanghai Dumpling House in China Town and had Japanese barbecue skewers while listening to J-Punk at Kura Yakitori bar in one of the back alleys near Fed Square.
I was wearing short sleeves! SHORT SLEEVES PEOPLE! (I am presently blissfully ignoring the ominous looking sky this morning...)
Last night was divine, the (sob) last few days of heady jasmine is in the air, the breeze was cool and the Cat Empire did a free gig in Federation Square. I've come to realise that in order to be a true Melbournian, along with unflinching support for your team (and the occasional slip up "so in the VFL oops I mean AFL") one must also take pride in The Cat Empire and claim to have been fans since they weren't even The Cat Empire and were just gigging around Melbourne as up and comers. It was great! Sigh, the pretty one really is pretty, you know. REALLY. I think it's because he always looks kinda sleepy.
The gig was for Youth Decide action on climate change. Go take a look and cast your vote! It will make you feel young to realise that Youth Action includes people up to the age of 29... The HTB (that's husband-to-be you know) even brought in the camera for me (bless) so I will see if I got any half decent shots - without a tripod or a big lens night shots are going to be a little how's your father, and of course we were there for some tunes so photography wasn't a huge priority. But we'll see!

Say hello to your friends...
The Babysitters Club!
OMG, I have not been able to stop reading this blog since it was mentioned on the Frankie blog the other day (I think it was the Frankie blog? But I can't find the original link anywhere? So sincere apologies if it was one of the other clever blogs I read and you are not getting the kudos you deserve for highlighting such a riotous gem). HILARIOUS. Please do yourself a favour and read the entry I linked to, it's gold!
I totally had one of those moments of thinking back to how between my next sister down and I we had collected every single BSC book - Treena, do you know where they are these days? I hope ma stashed them away for her grandchildren, though I have a sinking feeling they went in a garage sale or something years ago... We also had the BSC boardgame, and I remember one moment of telling mum in the car I was going to pretend to be diabetic like Stacey. Sensible.
Here's an excerpt from 'Claudia and the Perfect Boy':
"You'd be amazed by the colors that go together. Take pink and gold. You might not think to wear pink socks with gold stretch pants, and then add a gold turtleneck under a pink sweater. But that's what I did yesterday, and then I added blue jewelry. It was great! I looked like a human sunset. The outfit made me very happy."
Yep, uh huh - Gold!
