Sesame is an online Aussie fashion magazine. And did I mention it's to die for?
Loving the photography and loving the Beci Orpin colouring page. Too fabulous!

Spring is in the air...

Oh hurrah! Went out on the balcony earlier and my first jasmine flowers were hiding in the back of the bush waiting to be spotted! They smell so great!

And I have three daffodils now!

It was a gorgeous morning here (some heavy looking clouds are looming now - oh dear) so we went for a bike ride down to the Slow Food market at Abbotsford Convent and stopped in at the giant Salvos too. The Salvos had a dining table and chairs which matched perfectly our couch (the wood frames at least, not the upholstery) as well as a tiki style cane couch with palm print cushions - perfection! But we didn't get them, our little apartment is already full to the brim with 'stuff' - and of course we are not supposed to be spending money, remember?

Oh and PS - I learnt a valuable lesson this morning. While it may seem like a good idea to ride around in a giant woolen poncho, I discovered when you are pedalling like mad and a gust of wind comes through at just the right angle, the front of your poncho tends to blow up over your face and head. I would go from 'la la la' pedalling along happily, to screaming and holding on for dear life with a face full of blue wool and no idea what was coming up in front of me. Reasonably uncool. Indeed.

This morning in The Age...

Christian Bale 'missing' on set - how can this article be in the paper without anyone jibing that he's made like christian and baled? Ha ha ha, hilarious. Has totally replaced my previous favourites of make like a tree and leave, or the oldie but goodie, make like a banana and split. Al, has he run off to be with you, his one true love? Edit - just remembered another one - make like tom and cruise. Love it!

Overseas abortion aid ban revoked - I do admire K-Rudd for not actively campaigning against this because of his personal views. I hope that now less women in developing countries will die from unsafe practices, leaving behind families with no mums; and that they will be able to have better access to information and resources to make informed decisions.

Archie chooses - who knew he'd pick Veronica? I mean, she's totally hotter, but from my vague memories of reading the funnies in the kids section of The Sunday Mail, she was kind of high maintenance? I like this comment published on The Guardian:

"Archie," one wrote solemnly on an Archie blog, "if the already unstable economy takes a fatal plunge the Lodges will freak. You'll be stuck with a high-maintenance drama queen who can't even pump her own gas. Marry Betty, she's down to earth, honest, and would step in front of a train for you. Regards, Dave."

For Steph, because you are still in the office and you are my number one fan

It never ceases to amaze me how someone with such great style and taste, who I admire so much, can be so into Lol Cats.

I admit, this one is great, but it does beg the question - do you think the average Lol Cats reader even remotely grasps the concept of critical mass?

Off to bed now (for real this time) - love ya sweetpea xx

This makes me need to close my eyes it is so beautiful

What incredible talent. The art reminds me of my talented, stylish girlfriend Steph. Love Ghostpatrol.

Major Boy Crush #6 - Don Draper

Hello Mr Draper. You are dreamy. And bad. And I love you.

Aren't these pictures fabulous? Don Draper (well, the chap who plays him at least) with Brissie's own Catherine McNeil. I just love love love the colours! The pictures were randomly discovered here while I was actually looking for a picture of little Bobby Draper from the show, who I am absolutely besotted with as I imagine that the husband-to-be was just like him when he was a little one! Too cute cute cute!

Sushi and Guts - there must be a baby on the way!

There are far too many super cute baby things out there. Well, I think they are super cute, Pete just looks at me like "what the hell are you thinking buying that for a baby!"

I would love nothing more than to be the crazy Aunty that encourages the tackers to grow up as freespirited and creative as they want to be! Isn't it funny, I have NEVER been a baby lover, in fact I've only ever held a baby once in my life. But now I have 2 friends expecting little ones, all of a sudden I've completely turned around and am crazy excited about it. I just can't wait to meet them!

I bought the set of plush guts for one little guy who is almost cooked, and just spotted the sushi booties on another blog this morning. Perfect for a new baby only announced this morning! (I picked it last time I saw them though. Totally. Snaps for me!)

Because they're funny and cute...

A Funny Thing Happened...

So, I developed a bizarre craving for smoked trout and watercress on the way home from work today (served up for dinner piled high on rye toast with avocado and labne. Hello - YUM! And Hello Again - how lucky am I to have a Leo's up the road which I knew would stock both smoked trout and watercress!). But you know, didn't think much of it, it wasn't important, right.

But then, I was standing in the apartment just minding my own business when this post from a few weeks ago came to mind. Specifically the bit which says, and I quote, "when I do eventually ovulate next then I will be so mad with nesting fever that I will clean enough for the whole month". And I realised as I was standing in the laundry at 7pm vacuuming INSIDE the dryer, that I really do know myself quite well after all.

A funny thing indeed...

Love Love Love!

Spotted at Meet Me at Mikes - thanks Pip!

I want. Give me now.

I can't imagine my life without this.

And it's 2 for 1! Buy one get one free!! That means they're only $37 each. And no Pete, I'm not listening to your yelling at me that they are $37 f***ing plastic bags full of dirt.

MUST HAVE.

Things that confirm I am actually still only very young

  • Completely ballsing up the aforementioned rissoles
  • Eating a bag of jaffas for dinner and feeling wretched
  • Forgetting to use my inside voice at the client award dinner last week when a well endowed young lady took to the stage accompanied by some interesting camera panning and I 'whispered' to Pete "BOOBS!" and erupted the three surrounding tables into giggles
  • Being perfectly happy to play zombie games on Wii all day
  • Constructing some serious fashion disasters and not realising just how bad it is until I've left the house
  • Continually convincing myself I can get one more day out of my hair wash even though I know deep down I can't and once again, not realising just how bad it is until it's too late
  • Thinking I desperately need everything advertised on Global Shop Direct, such as...

Things that make me realise I'm growing up...

  • Getting the energy bill and realising that next pay we are not going to be able to go out anywhere. And just accepting it without throwing a massive tantie or having a whinge
  • Wondering if I am too old for certain clothes
  • Even more potent - wondering if I am too YOUNG for certain clothes
  • Writing on my blog in between turning the chicken and veggie rissoles I made for tea
  • Not physically being able to swallow the $8 bottle of red bought on the cheap
  • Having friends who are wine-y enough to be able to tell me which $8 bottle I should actually have bought for an ok drop
  • Having a friend with a baby ready to pop out and join the world
  • Being soooo excited by the concept of meeting a friend's baby
  • Hiring people born in 1991 and realising they are old enough to vote and drink
  • Not being able to fathom sleeping until 1pm on the weekend. How is that physically possible?
  • Being a bit disappointed if we sleep in til 10am on the weekend after a late night, as half the day is already gone
  • Understanding where mum came from when she'd get stressed if friends came over randomly and she hadn't vacuumed
  • Catching myself saying complete mumisms like "you can clean up your pile of crap or I'll clean it up and it'll all go in the bin"
  • Being excited by the fact we have a set of really nice knives (engagement present)

Summer Lovin'

photos here

The David Jones Spring/Summer 09 collection launched today. Oh, bring me some Summer!! Please! Some seriously beautiful clothes coming out of Oz, don't you think?
So, I can't tell if I like something if there is something ugly nearby. I'm just a big picture kinda gal, you know? This conversation is one of the quickest ways to send the husband-to-be off the handle:

(Wandering through a furniture shop)
Him: That's a nice bed
Me: Yuk I hate that colour blue
Him: Those are the sheets, I'm talking about the bed frame
Me: Potato, potato
(note: how do you communicate the pronunciation cliche potato potato in writing, without it just looking like I walk around saying potato twice at everything?)

On the same note, I found it challenging to admire some of these clothes with the crazy looking sullen bony models wearing them. Never having been a big Miranda lover, I have to admit that she makes those clothes look great. Bring back the era of the supers. Those women could certainly wear a dress. I mean, who hasn't seen this image a hundred times and know them all by name?

Major Boy Crush #4 and #5 - Roger Federer and Mulder

There is N-O-T-H-I-N-G sexier than a drop dead gorgeous and beautiful and dreamy man who is so passionate he can be reduced to tears. Man tears are so hot. Passion is wonderful. Mmm hmm.

Two sexy weepies come to mind - Muldy and the Fed.

Oh Mulder. My first and truest love. How could I let it get to number 5 in the boy crushes without giving you a mention?

Pics from here, here, here and here.
